What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a brand of invisible braces that are used to straighten teeth. It uses the latest 3D technology to transform your smile. It first digitally simulates how your teeth can be expected to move over time; it then uses the digital simulation to print plastic aligners that then move your teeth as per the digital simulation. Each set of aligners is custom made to a patient to enable them to move teeth to their desired positions. To learn more about what is Invisalign, feel free to give us a call.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign uses a highly advanced technology and a series of clear aligners to straighten teeth, one small step at a time, till they are completely straight. Each set of aligners needs to be worn for 2 weeks, the aligner set moves your teeth a little in the right direction. The next one in the series move your teeth further along in the desired direction. By the time you complete all your aligners, your teeth are in their final desired positions.

Its digital software simulates how your teeth are expected to move with each set of aligners. The aligners are then manufactured to enable the expected teeth movement. Your dentist will monitor your progress each step of the way, to ensure your teeth are moving as desired.

Discover How It Works

Invisalign Vs Traditional Braces

Appearance

Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. Most people won’t be able to tell you are even wearing braces. Traditional braces are very noticeable, given their metallic bracket and wires.

Diet

You are able to continue eating and drinking as normal as you are able to remove your aligners while eating. Traditional braces impose several restrictions on what you can eat to prevent brackets from coming lose.

Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is much easier to maintain with removable aligners. You can simply take them off to clean your teeth. Traditional braces don’t allow for easy oral hygiene.

Invisalign Vs Braces

Digital simulation of your smile transformation with Invisalign

Invisalign clincheck smile simulation for teeth alignment in London

We will show you a digital simulation of how your teeth can be expected to move with clear aligners over the duration of your treatment. This is done once at the start during your consultation and again during the ClinCheck stage.

The ClinCheck smile simulation is essentially the dentist programming the Invisalign software, stipulating each set of aligners to move teeth in a certain way, using their extensive experience to ensure teeth have the ability to move in that manner.

Different dentists achieve different results based on their levels of experience in aligning teeth.

What Problems Is Invisalign Able To Treat?

Gapped Teeth

What issues can Invisalign fix – gapped teeth

Gaps between teeth occur when there is extra space between two or more teeth. This can happen due to teeth size being smaller in comparison for the jaw.

Crooked – Crowded Teeth

What issues can Invisalign fix – crooked crowded teeth

Crowded teeth occur when there isn’t enough space for all the teeth to fit on the jaw, causing some teeth to sit behind or in front of others.

Bite Related Issues

What issues can Invisalign fix – cross bite

Bite issues such as overbite, underbite, open bite and crossbite occur when teeth on the upper and lower jaw are not properly aligned with each other.

In the hands of an experienced dentist, aligners can be used to treat a very wide range of conditions, including many complex conditions. Invisalign can be used to treat crowded teeth. Aligners are also used to treat overbites. Book a consultation with us to see how how clear aligners treatment could benefit you.
