Facial & Dermal Fillers

Facial or Dermal fillers are a hugely popular treatment designed to help diminish the appearance of signs of ageing such as wrinkles, fine-lines and loss of skin volume and sagginess. Facial Fillers or Dermal fillers are made of a gel material, typically hylauronic acid that is injected into the skin to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and add volume to the soft tissue on the face. Facial or dermal filler can be had in different parts of the face – around the eye, mouth, cheeks and jawline. Facial Fillers in the form of lip fillers can also be administered directly into the lips. Dermal and Facial fillers restore volume to the face and plump up soft tissue so that fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed.

We are located near London Bridge, adjacent to Southwark Tube station. We are approx. 10 minutes’ walk from London Bridge rail station.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are facial fillers or dermal fillers?

Facial or Dermal filler are small injections of gel material, typically made of hylauronic acid, that fill fine lines and wrinkles and add volume to skin tissue on the face. Hyaluronic acid gel closely mimics the hyaluronic acid that’s naturally present in your skin. These dermal filler gels are injected just underneath the surface of the skin, giving volume, hydrating and softening the skin tissue. The facial or dermal fillers also aid elastin and collagen structure underneath your skin, giving the skin a more radiant and youthful appearance.

Facial or dermal filler are a hugely popular treatment for smoothening and filling wrinkles and fine lines. Dermal filler can be injected in different parts of your face – they can be had around the eye, jawline, mouth and cheeks. Dermal fillers can also be administered into the lips.

At Whites Dental, our experienced medical specialists only use approved facial and dermal filler.

How do facial fillers or dermal fillers work?

As we age, our bodies stop production of adequate amounts of elastin and collagen, compounds that contribute to giving us a youthful appearance.  Scientists broadly agree that the body starts losing collagen around the age of 25. Elastin and collagen levels decline at a steady rate of about 2% a year there on, with the body stopping production in it’s entirely by your late twenties.

Facial and dermal fillers are gel type substances made up of hyaluronic acid. When injected just beneath the skin surface, dermal fillers help deliver and maintain nutrients and moisture in your skin cells. In turn, this then helps restore volume to your face and plumps up areas of the face so that fine lines, wrinkles and deep-set lines are smoothed, helping to give your face a more youthful appearance.

How long do facial fillers or dermal fillers last?

Facial or dermal fillers are made up of a gel like substance made of hyaluronic acid, a natural occurring compound in our skin. The gel breaks down after typically 9 – 18 months. Facial fillers are not permanent and further top-ups are likely to be required in order to maintain a natural, youthful, under-stated look.

Can facial or dermal fillers be used around your eyes?

Facial or Dermal fillers can be used around the under eye region in the tear trough to reduce hollowing and reduce dark circles, resulting in a refreshed, rejuvenated natural looking appearance. Wrinkles around your eyes can also be treated with a combination of muscle relaxants, dermal filler and ultherapy.

Can facial fillers or dermal fillers make wrinkles worse?

Dermal or facial fillers (such as Juvederm and Restylane) restore volume to facial areas by filling out fine lines and deep set wrinkles. No evidence has been found to date that suggests dermal or facial fillers make the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles worse. On the contrary however, there is evidence to suggest that facial or dermal fillers can have a long lasting effect in reducing fine lines and wrinkle; this is because facial and dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, a compound that closely mimics the natural occurring hyaluronic acid present in your skin tissue.

Is there any downtime with facial or dermal fillers?

Dermal and facial fillers procedures usually take 30 to 45 minute to complete. There is little or no downtime, thus enabling patients to resume their regular day to day activities right away.

Usually there is no need for conducting allergy tests as facial and dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a compound that occurs naturally in the skin and is used in other medical procedures. On occasions, patients can experience a little bit of swelling after the treatment. The swelling only lasts a few days and can be camouflage easily with regular makeup.

I have read so many bad stories in the media – how do I know everything will be fine with my facial or dermal filler treatment?

Millions of facial and dermal filler procedures have been performed successfully all around the world using fillers. Dermal fillers are very safe and effective when they are administered properly by a qualified medical provider.

Dr. Xenia runs Whites Facial Aesthetics – she is an experienced cosmetic dentist and has also been practising dermal filler treatments from 2011. She is very skilled and experienced at providing all her patients with a youthful natural appearance.
