Composite Bonding Vs Veneers

Bonding And Veneers Comparison

Bonding Veneers
What Is It A tooth coloured resin is applied to the tooth, sculpted into the desired shape and then hardened. A custom made shell is fixed to the front of the tooth, hiding any cosmetic imperfections.
Suitability Work well for mild to moderate changes to tooth shape and size. Best suited for fixing teeth gaps, uneven edges, chips and cracks. Used for both mild changes and extensive smile makeovers. Suited for masking teeth gaps, mis-aligned teeth, worn out teeth and staining.
Procedure No needles or drilling. Underlying tooth structure not damaged. Pain free. Modern veneers require minimal tooth shaving. Some require no shaving at all. Minimal to nil drilling.
Smile Outcome Amazing smile results can be achieved, however, less natural than veneers. Results prone to staining Excellent natural looking smile outcomes. Results not prone to staining
Longevity Prone to chipping. Not as strong as veneers. Lasts 4-6 years with good maintenance. Stronger than bonding. Doesn’t chip. Lasts 15+ years usually.
Maintenance Loses lustre with time. Polishing required every couple of years. Good oral hygiene required. Doesn’t lose shine over time. Minimal maintenance. Good oral hygiene required.
Affordability Cost effective treatment for a smile makeover. More expensive that composite bonding.
