Emergency Dentist Near Me in London

Emergency Dentist Near Me

Dental emergencies are usually a traumatic experiences, especially if you have a severe toothache or have chipped or broken your tooth as a result of an accident or injury. Under circumstances such as these, it’s important you see an emergency dentist as soon as possible, even if the pain is not severe or your tooth has only had a minor chip or break. Seeing an emergency dentist becomes even more urgent if your tooth has been knocked out as a result of a dental trauma or injury. The faster you see an emergency dentist, the better your chances of having your tooth re-inserted. The success of the procedure will of course depend on how quickly you get to the dentist and how severe your injury is.

When it comes to dental injury or accident or tooth pain, we advise the following to our patients –

  • Chipped or broken tooth – A chipped or broken tooth can often lead to rough and sharp edges on the tooth. The accident that led to the chipped or broken tooth may also have caused damage to other parts of your mouth – e.g. teeth roots and supporting tissue. Under these circumstances, it’s important to see an emergency dentist. The dentist will likely be able to smoothen out the rough edges and repair the chipped or broken part of your tooth. A tooth coloured composite resin can be used to rebuild the tooth, restoring it to its natural appearance. The filling material that the dentist may use can be made to match the exact colour of your remaining tooth to make your tooth look like it was never broken. The dentist can also repair a molar tooth if that’s what’s broken. A dental crown can be made to replace part of the broken tooth.
  • Knocked-out tooth – If you have a knocked-out tooth as a result of a dental injury, its vital to find an emergency dentist as quickly as you can. Advances in modern dental technology now enable dentists to re-insert a tooth into its socket if you are able to get to a dentist within 45 minutes of the dental injury taking place. The faster you can get to an emergency dentist, the higher your chances of the dentist being able to restore your original tooth. To increase the chance of success, it’s vitally important that you keep your knocked-out tooth safe and not do any further damage to it. It is therefore important that you do not handle the tooth from the root end and only handle the tooth from its crown end. Store the knocked-out tooth in cold water or milk. Under certain instances, you may be able to put the tooth back into the exposed tooth socket by gently biting down on a soft paper towel for about 15 to 20 minutes or so. This may not be for everyone and we advise you to visit an emergency dentist as soon as you possibly can.
  • Toothache – If you have a toothache, whether mild or severe, it could be as a result of an underlying caries or tooth decay that’s reached your tooth’s nerve and has potentially caused an abscess at its root. Patients often take over-the-counter medication like pain killers (Ibuprofen); its important however, to address the root cause of the pain to ensure it doesn’t arise again.

At Whites Dental, our dentists are very experienced, having treated hundreds of dental emergencies. They will take care of your dental needs to help you get out of pain, address your immediate dental requirements and will help to reduce the chances of future dental issues arising as a result of your dental emergency.

Emergency Dentist – Opening Hours

If you have experienced a dental emergency, you should visit an emergency dentist as quickly as possible. Whites Dental provides a same day emergency dentist service for all types of dental emergencies; these include a broken / chipped tooth, knocked-out teeth, toothache, swelling, abscesses, swollen face, lost fillings, broken crowns etc. We are open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm. We are one of the few dentists around who are open on Saturdays and can see emergencies on the same day typically.
We suggest you call our reception team on 0208 616 0590 as early in the morning as you can. We typically keep 2-3 appointments every day just for dental emergencies. If you call us early in the morning, we will likely be able to provide you a same day dental emergency appointment. At the appointment, the emergency dentist will conduct athorough investigation to understand the injury caused and the root cause of the issue. They may need to take x-rays and use other investigative equipment to assess your injury or dental issue. They will then provide you with a suggested course of treatment along with the associated cost for the treatment.
